Alberto Scandroglio (01:01): Hello, Chelsea. Good afternoon and a very warm welcome to all our friends and colleagues and customers who join today at the Beckman Coulter booth for this historical unveiling.
Chelsea Creech (01:12): Absolutely. So we all know that today's healthcare landscape is constantly changing. We see it in the lab every day, and we've seen it here at Medlab the last few years. That means that timely and accurate diagnostic testing is more important than ever. That's why I'm excited to share with you our topic for today, Scaling and Simplifying Operations: Enhancing Low-Volume Lab Performance, and also to introduce our newest Beckman Coulter analyzer.
Alberto Scandroglio (01:42): Our clinical chemistry family of analyzers has been known for years for very high reliability rates and for excellence. Over the last years, our customers learned how these analyzers can really keep up with the daily demand and get the job done. Today we are thrilled to introduce the latest member of this family of analyzers that you've come to love and rely upon. It's my honor today to introduce you to the latest Beckman Coulter clinical chemistry analyzer, specifically designed for low-volume testing sites, the DxC 500 AU. Let's take a look. Introducing the DxC 500 AU.
Chelsea Creech (03:19): So we're so excited to unveil the DxC 500 AU here at Medlab in Dubai. This comprehensive low-volume analyzer was specifically designed to redefine diagnostic testing and empower healthcare professionals to give the greatest standard of care, bringing simplicity together with expedient and efficient performance. So Alberto, I think everyone in the audience here today would agree that efficiency is vitally important in their labs. What can you tell us about the DxC 500 AU, and how it helps them make the most of their busy shift?
Alberto Scandroglio (03:56): Excellent question, Chelsea. Thank you very much. So when we designed the DxC 500 AU, we obviously had a number of priorities in mind. One of the most important was to optimize your operations, and that is to deliver to our customers the flexibility and the efficiency that they need, with an extremely intuitive interface with very easy indicators for tasks, with on-the-fly reagents, loading of reagents that are, by the way, standardized across clinical chemistry line. We really managed to deliver to customer a platform that is extremely easy to manage. So that allows you and your team to spend more of your energies and attention to the tasks that really matters in your laboratory.
Chelsea Creech (04:44): Wonderful. And at the end of the day, these professionals in these busy labs are there to deliver the fastest result possible. How can the DxC 500 AU empower lab professionals to deliver more results faster?
Alberto Scandroglio (04:59): So let's speak about the second priority that we had in mind when we designed this analyzer. After optimizing your operation, we switch now to protect your productivity and the DxC 500 AU does that in many ways. For example, with eight and a half minutes of turnaround time, it really allows you to deliver more and faster of those results that really matters. With liquid and ready-to-use reagents, it really means that you can load it and leave it. And with the changing replacement of common parts, this is something that has been really common on the clinical chemistry AU line for many years. With the 500 AU, we really take it to the next level. That means think about it, for changing and replacing a probe it takes up to 60 seconds, only three very easy steps and no tools. We call it the three and 60 principle. All these features put together mean that you can really have a significantly improved walk-away capability so that again, your team will be able to focus on high-added-value tasks in your laboratory.
Chelsea Creech (06:07): This is really exciting, Alberto. I'd like to change subjects a little bit though. One critical component of any analyzer is its menu. What can you share about the DxC 500 AU's menu here today?
Alberto Scandroglio (06:20): So DxC 500 AU boasts a menu of more than 120 assays, really designed to support ever-changing testing need in laboratories. But it's not only about the amount of assays per se, it's really about the flexibility that we deliver to our customers. Because thanks to the 500 AU, now customers can choose from a vast variety of reagent sizes in order to match at best their daily throughput.
Chelsea Creech (06:47): Wow, that's awesome to hear. And something else that I think you're aware of, we're really proud here about our HBA-1C advanced assay. Can you share why that is important to our customers?
Alberto Scandroglio (06:59): So we recently launched HBA-1C advanced, customers can now load directly the whole blood vials as they arrive into their laboratories directly into the analyzer without any manual preparation prior to that. So if you think about it, that means that this capability together with the features that we already discussed, so much reduced maintenance, significantly improved turnaround time at this level of throughput. We really came out with a solution that really supports at best testing assays.
Chelsea Creech (07:34): Wonderful. And now that we're on the topic of assays, something else we're proud about here at Beckman Coulter is our broad portfolio of high-performing Sigma assays. For people in the audience that aren't aware of the benefits of Six Sigma, can you share a bit more about how that saves them time and energy?
Alberto Scandroglio (07:53): So I speak about the third priority that we had in mind when we designed this analyzer, on top of optimizing your operation and protecting your productivity, we switch now to trust your results. The DxC 500 AU has a very high percentage of high Sigma-performing assays. So that means that of course, you can trust your result thanks to the much reduced risk of errors. But that means as well that we deliver to customers significant benefits from as well, the money perspective and the time perspective, thanks to reduced need of rerunning quality control and calibrators as well as the much reduced need for troubleshooting.
Chelsea Creech (08:32): Thanks, Alberto. And in fact, we have a lot that comes through our customers that say a lot about standardization and scalability. How does the DxC 500 AU help a lab and the whole entire network to really deliver those results?
Alberto Scandroglio (08:48): So DxC 500 AU is an incredible machine as a standalone solution, but is also a perfect solution for network of laboratories. As we mentioned a couple of minutes ago, it is an integral part of the clinical chemistry family of Beckman Coulter analyzers. As such, it brings even more flexibility to our customers in order to match at best their daily workload. And it does that by ensuring commutable patient results thanks to standardized reagents and consumables.
Chelsea Creech (09:20): Lovely, and you're right, the analyzer on its own is powerful, but when you consider our entire Beckman Coulter chemistry analyzer solutions, you know that you can truly rely on this DxC 500 AU. Now, speaking of reliability Alberto, what can you share about the reliability that we can trust with the 500 AU?
Alberto Scandroglio (09:42): So at Beckman Coulter, we prioritize very strongly on the trust of our customers for the solutions we offer. Two areas here are really, really important. One is ensuring inventory, and the second one is delivering world-class laboratory performance. How can we do that? Well, first of all, of course, we can leverage the resources of our mother company, Danaher. The Danaher mindset of constant improvement is also absolutely critical in each and every processes and new product that we bring to market. And then the support of the various companies that are part of these incredible organizations constantly bring additional possibilities for supporting and improvements. When you put all these together, what we get is an ever-improving set of solutions that are really designed to push the boundaries and further unleash reliability and performances for today and tomorrow's laboratories.
Chelsea Creech (10:42): Alberto, thank you so much for answering these questions for us today. And thank you for everyone that was here to join us at the Beckman Coulter unveiling of the DxC 500 AU. If you're joining us online, please go to beckmancoulter.com/dxc500au.
