Eventually, these solutions may be brought to market and could contribute to elevating healthcare throughout the nation.

“This collaboration allows us to define and solve problems with experts across clinical fields and situations, and allows us to work alongside top-notch researchers to develop smart solutions,” said John Blackwood, senior vice president and general manager of products and services, Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. “It is critical to explore and test new and innovative solutions with clinicians working in actual clinical settings to determine real-world quality and effectiveness. This will help us to address clinical challenges in a rapidly changing environment and foster our efforts to move healthcare forward for every person.”

Johns Hopkins’ faculty, students and start-up community are expected to benefit from Beckman Coulter Diagnostics’ expertise in global commercialization of diagnostic solutions. This should help accelerate the translational process from world-class research to healthcare application.

“Johns Hopkins is home to some of the most brilliant researchers in the world,” said Fiona Adair, Ph.D., vice president of strategy and innovation at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics. “We feel very confident that this collaboration will create an ‘innovation think tank’ that will lead to meaningful, long-lasting solutions that create insights to help implement value-based care.”
